the Neopets Toolbar Add-on
I understand that this extension may be subjected to Neopets Toolbar's Terms and Conditions, depending on how each individual interprets it.

"You may not modify, copy, publish, license, create derivative works from or sell any information or software associated with the Neopets Toolbar..."
The add-on does not make use of any codes within the Neopets Toolbar. It will however make use of existing Neopets Toolbar preferences settings, which can be access (and modify) by anyone via "about:config" page in Firefox.
The add-on is not considered a derivative work. By definition, a "derivative work" is a work based upon one or more preexisting works, such as a translation, musical arrangement, dramatization, fictionalization, motion picture version, sound recording, art reproduction, abridgment, condensation, or any other form in which a work may be recast, transformed, or adapted. A work consisting of editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications which, as a whole, represent an original work of authorship, is a "derivative work" (Rosenlaw & Einschlag - Technology Law Offices
). But they also mentioned that "The primary indication of whether a new program is a derivative work is whether the source code of the original program was used, modified, translated or otherwise changed in any way to create the new program. If not, then I would argue that there is not a derivative work.". Since the add-on doesn't make use of any codes within the Neopets Toolbar, it's not a derivative work. (Unless you considered the Preference settings part of the code, which I disagree, considering they are always available and changable not matter whether this add-on was installed or not.)
Finally, this add-on is downloadable for free with no string attached. The purpose of this add-on is to create an alternate alert for those who need it.

The add-on only improves on the Neopets Toolbar. All the features in this add-on can be disabled.

The add-on has a "no sleeping" setting for Neopets Toolbar. I will remove this feature if it is in violation with the above-mentioned Terms and Conditions. In this case, turning on the feature is similar to a user accessing the browser constantly to keep the Neopets Toolbar "awake", so this feature shouldn't affect the Neopets server by too much.
(Since TNT prevents the user from changing the preference value, the "no sleeping" feature was officially removed.)
